Mathematics - Learning Times Tables
Learning Times Tables at Middle Barton School
Multiplication tables form part of the National Curriculum for maths. By the end of year 4, pupils should know all of their times tables up to 12 x 12! They must also know how to count in steps of 25, 50, 100 and 1000! Times tables enable children to access other areas of the curriculum involving more complex calculations and problems. Multipication also helps with estimation, division and even fractions, therefore, it is really important that children are able to fluently and confidently recall these facts.
There are lots of ways to learn tables and children will favour different methods. At Middle Barton School we make learning tables as fun by using chants, songs, games and visual resources to help our pupils learn these facts. Below are some of the videos that we have been using recently to learn our times tables - these have proved very popular with our pupils!
You can load these videos up from your mobile phone or tablet so that you are able to learn on the go too!
